Solar Radiation Management (SRM), blocking out the sun, stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI)= Chemtrails - NOT? Creating clouds by day and none by night - the 'spraying' myth
Geoengineering Free Canada Mar 18, 2025
Solar Radiation Management as one of the geoengineering types mainly confused with ‘chemtrails’ by definition means the attempt to reflect sunlight back into space, and include a range of ideas, from orbiting mirrors, tonnes of sulphates dumped into the stratosphere, and modifying clouds, plants and ice to make them more reflect more sunlight. (climateviewer.com)
SRM is not limited to the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere. There is other SRM technologies like eg. Surface Albedo Modification or Marine Cloud Brightening that are located in different places operate out of other locations and do different things to reflect sunlight back into space.
SRM = geoengeneering type → SAI = SRM technology = weather modification technology
Let’s focus on stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) and clarify the ‘chemtrail’ issue.
Can we consider SAI geoengineering? - Yes, b/c it not just impacts the air but also the land (GEO). Why? Aircrafts release sulphates and/or other particles into the stratosphere to block the sun. In other words less heat, less light and less growth on earth.
If there were a way to continuously inject SO2 into the lower stratosphere, it would produce global cooling, stopping melting of the ice caps, and increasing the uptake of CO2 by plants. But there are at least 27 reasons why stratospheric geoengineering may be a bad idea. These include disruption of the Asian and African summer monsoons, reducing precipitation to the food supply for billions of people; ozone depletion; no more blue skies; reduction of solar power; and rapid global warming if it stops. Furthermore, there are concerns about commercial or military control, and it may seriously degrade terrestrial astronomy and satellite remote sensing. Global efforts to reduce anthropogenic emissions (mitigation) and to adapt to climate change are a much better way to channel our resources to address anthropogenic global warming.
The SAI and ‘chemtrail’ confusion:
Stratospheric Aerosol Injection happens in the stratosphere approx. above and beyond 40K ft. Not very many planes except private jets and military aircrafts fly that high.
Sulfur is one component of jet fuel. Releasing sulfur in the lower stratosphere will not create the lines in the sky commonly called ‘chemtrails’. The stratosphere is very dry and there’s no cloud formation. The chemicals however will stay for several years.
Although we sometimes see and sometimes don’t see the trails doesn’t mean they aren’t there and cause massive pollution. Approximately 40-45 million flights per year create cirrus clouds, block the sun and release toxic particles in the sky. Air traffic in Canada luckily is less dense than anywhere else but still enough to be concerned and take action. Geoengineering is a global issue and does affect any country anywhere in the world.
